Hi Guys,

I need to replace my tyres before the Epic and was wondering what the best tyres would be for that race. Not that happy with my current brand, so looking for advice.

I've had 2 suggestions:

1. Schwalbe Racing Ralph Snakeskin

2. Maxxis Cross Mark

I'm running tubeless 29er.

Thanks

Interested to see the results. In same position at the moment, deciding between Racing Ralphs and Ikon/Crossmark. I think they both good sets.

Thanks

I have to agree with Hairy...they are tough as nails and roll well...be sure to get the TNT version. Only downside is that they are heavy, but you are not going for a podium so you need something that won't let you down

PS, I am currently running rr snakeskin's but I don't think they would be my first choice for the epic

I was told the Racing Ralphs were made for the Epic, and The Bulls' tyre of choice - the snakeskin being particularly tough and puncture resistant?

At over R600 a tyre, this is not for free!

Hairy - where did you find the Geax Saguaro?

I have the Saguaro's on the Shova and want a set for the Inbred (29'er) ... they are around in some CT stores. I have just put a new set of Maxxiss Ardents on the Inbred, so will wear them down a little before getting the Saguaro's.

Dangerboy.

Are you seriously looking, if so I will let you know RE stock on those from a couple of LBS's over the next few days.

Marathon type rides - Saguaro front and back

More Trail rides - Saguaro back with something like the Ardents in front

Just my 2c

IMO, you can't beat a Saguaro upfront. What's you feeling on running a Geax Barrow Mountain over a Saguaro on the back? I find it grippier than a Saguaro, but is it tougher?

I have not tried the Barrow yet, so can't honestly answer that.

For a marathon ride the Saguaro with lowish pressure on the front is great, but when the trail turns nasty and you feel like misbehaving a big burly tyre up front tends to increase the fun factor.

For the Epic I would think the Saguaro a prefect for front/back combo

The Geax Barro Mountain would be my choise for the front, but it is not available in 29".

Suguaro is a great choise, but check rim compatability first and please do not use on American Classic rims. You will bend the rims, break a number of levers, cry and spend 20min to remove it if need be. Serious.
