Good ad. As a daily motorbike rider, I can't help but cringe a bit though at the choice, but I guess any dead person they used would cause someone to cringe.

Strange how they always use a really sad looking child (usually a young girl) to illustrate these issues, lots and lots of middle aged or older folk also waiting for organs,...... but, I guess, using a middle aged, overweight, unshaven, slightly disheveled male doesn't quite pull the heart strings that much hey.?

Many folk have lots of questions to be asked before becoming an organ donor, I am not sure that ad answers any, maybe it will drive some to think about it and pursue it further which is fine, but I am not really in favor of ads that work on a feeling of guilt, as if not becoming an organ donor is something akin to murdering a little girl,............ to many its not as easy as just signing on and their concerns need to be addressed as well,.....personally, I think the ad could have been more educational instead of more sensational.

Fair points. I agree that it does not answer any questions about donating.

But it does make you think.

More importantly, it makes you think about how serious a matter this is.

Very powerfull ad!!.The most impotant thing for organ donation is to let your next of kin know about your wishes. They will always be contacted first. The registration process is to make thing easier.Like bloodgroup.contact details ,size weight of donar.Previous illness. operations, medications

If I understand correctly, the final choice as to whether your organs are donated, rests with your next of kin. Being a registered organ donor is not a legally binding gift that your NoK must honour. It is critical to ensure that they understand your wishes and will respect them in what will likely be a emotionally charged and challenging time for them.

I place my red stickers on my ID, medical aid card and drivers licence. The most likely places that an emergency rescue person would look.

Very good points Grumpy. When my brother died, I did not allow for his organs to be harvested because I didn't want his body being cut up. He'd had enough pain and suffering in life and to me, allowing an autopsy or organ harvesting would just be more unnecessary hurt.
