What a great days racing all round.

I'm sorry Burry didn't bag the win, but he can be proud of a great ride; third place was waaaay back.

The RedBull video stream was excellent Good Q and no buffering. Rob Warner was commentating (or should I say blagging his was through it most of the time) He was going on as why the okes didn't pack spare tubes lol but he is a good laf. He had Nino Swiss team manager helping him, who told the story of the 27 1/2" or 650 - apparently Nino has been testing these wheels all winter, and find the the best of both worlds. He reckons wheel size also goes in proportion to rider height.

Congrags to Burry on a fantastic result. And Cannondale on the podium - Manuel Fumic on a Lefty equipped Flash, not too sure was it a 29er?

Was Def a 9er for Fumic

Great race by Nino...

The way he broke away from Stunda Thunda was an amazing display of strength.

Plus his technical competence over the rocks.

Fixed. Stander was just as strong as Nino. Nino was better over the rocks.

nino went around the track like a "bosss" on his scott ht 650b'er....... once again, burry looked like a clown on his 29er, losing loads of time trying to get around the uphill switchbacks....

Were you there? I was, Burry was anything but a clown, he rode incredibly well, was an awesome race, him and Shurter spanked the rest of the field.

I spoke to both Burry and Nuno after the race, what athletes, a true inspiration, they do not deserved to be called clowns, specially from an arm chair specialist, Burry lost time in the rock garden, and he popped half way through the penultimate lap, otherwise he came from ninth after the first lap to lead most of the race.

Totally agree. Nino said that he knew he was faster than Burry over the rocks, and knew he had to put five seconds into Burry. Neither of them could gap each other, so once they had got away, they shared the load at the front. The Tree House proved decisive. Also interesting was that Nino said he had a slight psychological advantage having beaten Burry there last week.

Just had a peek outdoors. It's overcast here. DH track is going to be tricky. Ain't going to be a bed of roses for the junior men XC riders.

Ran into the Austrian tea/guys on Tuesday morning at ORT, as they landed, getting ZAR.s

Strangely looked more like roadie's, tall slender compared to what I would have though a DH's looked like, shorter, more muscular.

You think it was his wheel size?

:whistling:

Great contest.

Surely last year's somersault can also play on Burry's mind...

It seemed Nino just had a bit more pace and pulled a gap on that last lap - although he seemed to motor through that rock garden better than anyone else.

Todd Wells news from Cyclenews: "The USA was missing the firepower of its usual top rider: national champion Todd Wells (Specialized). Wells crashed earlier in the week, injuring his ankle. He had hoped to ride, but the team said that the injury had not responded to treatment, so Wells was forced to sit out the race, and now the question is whether he will recover in time to race the Cape Epic stage race starting next weekend."
