Well done Boonen, thoroughly enjoyed watching a rider of his class dominate the race. I think he was trying to eclipse Spartacus' win two years ago, had to go from further out you know.

I can't believe that one posted that the P-R was over rated... compared to what? 200+kms of classics racing is all you need to know. None of the classics are comparable, that's why they still exist and each one is unique.

Picked out an old copy of Cyclesport while having my constituional this morning, and found an article detailing what they thought were the 30 most, er, classic, Classics of the modern era. This one came in at No 1: Tchmil's win in 1994. it came after an attack 50km out, much like Boonen's did. And he was riding a RockShox… Coming in at No 4 was Hinault's win in '81: "There, I've done it. I'm never coming back."

AND There are several cobbled Classics specific machines out in Trek, BMC, Giant, etc.
