I am doing the half with severe ITB. So I am going to take it easy and hoping for not to much pain. After this I am taking 6 weeks off running and cycling to get rid of it once and for all.

I may be wrong but you might have to do more than just stop running and cycling to get rid of it. You'll need to do some physio and lots of stretches and other knee exercises to strengthen the muscles.

I've got an entry for the half, but didn't train at all (did one run the week after the Argus, thats it). Never done a running race in my life.

Is it possible to finish within the cut-off without any training? My ego wouldn't survive missing the cut-off.

You can run / walk it in under three hours, but you are going to hurt.

Doing the half - looking at sub 1h40.

Starting in E - besides the slow runners in front of you surely they take the time of your crossing the start mat and not the starters gun?

Southern Cross ascent is gonna make you cry if you didn't train...

No, welcome the the curse of starting at the back of a running race, it will take you 6 minutes or more to cross the start line, so that's basically a 6 minute penalty for you. Its a tough race to try to negotiate the big field from the back for a good time. I think you need to be a solid 90 minute man to do 1:40 from the back at the 2 Oceans fun run

Even after the start, it is a tight course all the way up to the M3 bridge, almost.

Not easy to overtake and very risky to do so.

Yes, I have started exercising with a Biokineticist this week. We are starting a two month program from next week to hopefully be ready before the tri season starts again.

So how does the timing work? Im assuming its done by racetec or similar as i dont see them standing with clipboard writing down 16 000 times? I entered the day the race became available so pretty cruddy i have to start way back. im not a 90 min man - but im trying to be a 100 min man :whistling:

Just read on news24:

More than 25 000 due to run the Ultra.

And 16 000 to run the Half.

RECORD NUMBERS!

That is a lot of carbo loading for the Ultra. WoW!

Dale, that inconsistent with the Two Oceans website, which shows just under 10 000 for the Ultra. Numbers are limited to only 12 000 for the Ultra

Racetec does the timing. The timing starts when the gun goes off. Although there are seeded groups it is just a way of ordering the runners from fastest to slowest, it is basically a mass start, everyone gets the same start time and the clock stops when you cross the line

Hopefully i still have some good legs after the trail run ,

If you can push to the front of your block and also stand on the side where they have the firts big turn in this case it is a right i think -it will be imposible to cross over between all those guys
