cape town winters are not that wet on average: taht said:

Buff (last year the cold thru my lid was like knives: it was surprisingly painful.

IDT if pissing. But avoid as much as possible simply because the predawn rides are fantastic in winter!

Anatomic has a special on their rain jacket, only R200 and it seems pretty decent.

I bought a couple the other day, pretty good for R200.

clearly has not ridden in CT winters yet. your leaving out the shades. tisk tisk.

 

It seems like most people covered the gear you need. My biggest asset is double layered long finger gloves and covers for my shoes, But my best advice is to get a group of friends that cycles. It is sometimes hard to get your self out in the weather and having friends that is waiting for you is a great motivator.
