Just got a Scale Pro 29.

Comes in at 10.8 with pedals, slime, cages etc.

What upgrades could be made to get sub 10?

Cheapest way is to buy a Scott Scale RC

Upgrade the cockpit(considering you left this standard) and lighter tyres although the Schwalble on it is already really lite. Better wheelset although I really rate the DT Swiss wheelset on there, maybe grips as well

Why? You're just going to be sacrificing reliability for no real riding gain... Ultimately wheels and tyres are going to be the best/cheapest place to go for the biggest saving and then the bar/stem/seatpost could probably give you a few grams (of course keeping in mind the massive performance advantage a lightweight seatpost gives you!). I've done the sub 10kg hardtail and I ride faster on my 11kg dual susser over longer courses...

How about losing the weight,or getting fitter, stronger and smarter?Reliability first.Nothing more annoying than looking at the classifieds, only for some spark wanting to know the weight of the item/bike.

this losing weight story is also tjol. a lighter bike handles better on technical stuff, whether you are fat or not, but agree stupid when you start compromising reliability
