both bikes are mediums! im 1.84m tall.

At a rough guess - medium is too small for you!

I'm 1.86m and on the XTC (hardtail) I ride an XL

on the Anthem I can ride a Large ... if I really must

Go get a professional setup done!

I am 1,76 on a medium Anthem 29er and find it a little tight with a 100mm stem.

But I did try the large and it is HUGE. Feels like a land-yacht.

More than one review has mentioned that they actually need another size between medium and large on the Anthem 29er.

Google the topic and you will find numerous discussions by folks between 1,75-185 trying to figure out which anthem they should be on.

See, I'm taller than this bloke, and ride a small...

Does not mean you are right :whistling:

I am 1.78 and am far too cramped on a small. Medium Giant fits me rather well, but then again we are all built differently.

So OP, get a proper bike fit if you are uncomfortable with your setup.

Guys, i am not uncomfortable on my bike. As it is i am uber comfy!

my first bike was a Giant Yukon Large- 20" H/T. i then moved to a Medium 18" D/S. and the difference was night and day! i had far better control and cornering on the Medium! my riding improved.

i then got the Medium 29 as the large felt very long and slow to react. i had both a large and medium test bike for a week each and did about 200km with each. the medium just clicked and i love this bike. again, my riding has improved....

i was just thinking over the weekend that "IF" i had to put a 10mm longer stem on, just to bring me over the front wheel a slight/touch/tad/bietjie/ball hair/Gnats C*ck more IF it would handle a bit sharper.....

as it is set up now, i have the plum line through center of pedal axle... and the rest... :):) all i was asking was weather it would make a difference to move 10mm further, and who makes a stem that is 31.6mm and will fit the fork stem that came with my bike... ? :):)

ride what you are comfy with! :)

Longer stem usually makes for less sharp handling...

Is the head angle slacker (less steep) than your previous bike?

Steeper makes for faster more twitchy steering.

How wide are the bars?

Narrow will be faster steering with less control. Also makes you sit a bit more upright.

Wider will bring you forward a bit more with more control but with slower steering. You can compensate by using slightly shorter stem.
