Yeah, I recon there's another medal here and I hope its gold.

I have a great deal of admiration for Oscar, plus I believe he is the first double amputee to qualify in a track event at the games. Super stuff indeed.

I am enjoying the weightlifting .... and the women's volley ball (go Brasil !)

Yeah, I have also been enjoying the weightlifting and the woman's weightlifting has actually been quite incredible.

How was that lift by the young 21 year old Russian girl who broke all the records in the "Snatch" with 151kg above her head?. Man, she wobbled a bit, but once she steadied herself she made it look easy, considering the Chinese girl in second could only get 146kg's after all three attempts it just shows how superior she was.

I really don't get the whole Oscar running at the Olympics story

Perhaps this works...he is our fastest athlete over 400m, and he qualified

That said...it is an embarassment from Athletics South Africa that they cannot field another proper track athlete, no offense intended towards Pistorius.

........and a double amputee running in a normal bodied event.

Really enjoying the Olympics. Shooting (shotguns, on now), track cycling, watching Bolt, archery, some of the swimming, have all been surprising pleasures.

Let me put this in context. Athletics will never progress in SA unless somebody takes some action (ASA) since it already fails at primary school level. There is absolutely no desire at school level to develop athletes that shows promise. My boy this year made the school team in 100m dash and hurdles, and it seems that the events are being rushed through at the beginning of each year just to get it done with. Absolutely no coaching was done. And the events themselves was not a shining example of organisation.

Fact is it seems that in SA rugby and cricket gets all the attention, and athletics and swimming is just a sideshow.
