M L Posted May 22, 2012 Share We all love a poll so this is the single part on my mtb I have failed to get right. How do you pick a comfortable saddle? Have read you should go to a bike shop that can test your behind. Have read every person has different taste. I press the padding with my thumbs and pick the comfiest saddle. Got a Bontrager evoke R now for a week. Is it too early to tell or did I buy the wrong saddle again? I don't know if my ass is just more prone to get sore on a saddle, so for those of you who have also struggled with saddle sore syndrome please help me out. I see the gobi's are everywhere, but they don't look too comfortable. Am I approaching this the wrong way, does the feel of the pads not make the comfy or not? Got new mtb shorts as well, will try them out and see how it goes. Edited December 1, 2012 by wheelerdealer
Nimby Posted May 22, 2012 Share I know I'm in the minority here but I could never get on with the Gobi. Nicola13, Milkman, Barkingmad and 3 others

sometime Posted May 22, 2012 Share Gobi is the single most uncomfortable saddle I ever owned - getting a numb **** after 30 mins of riding made it even worse - can't believe I kept it for so long. Now use Spez Henge and Phenom - very happy with both.

kandui Posted May 22, 2012 Share Been a Gobi fan for 2 years and have ridden 2 Pioneers, 1 Epic, Baviaans, Desert Dash, LOTCR and W2W without complaint, until Epic 2012. My ass got 2 massive sores which have still not quite healed. I don't know what happened, but now I am questioning the saddle, although it makes no sense since it worked fine during the other races. I have the 2012 Gobi which has a slightly longer nose. I am finding that a bit uncomfortable and am wondering which saddle might be better, if any.Problem is, there aren't many test saddles around. Hairy Posted May 22, 2012 Share Tried a couple of saddles and for some obscure reason I have found a cheapy OEM Scott saddle to really do the trick for my rear end and have come away from a 24hr event feeling good. I usually get them from R150 - R200

I usually get them from R150 - R200 I've ridden one of those. Very nice saddle. I got mine free from Cajees when they took it off a new bike. Dustbin Dog Posted May 22, 2012 Share Same here. Some very not-so-comfy saddles on that list Maybe your nutz have not dropped yet!! Just joking, strange, we are all humans yet we require different saddles to get comfy.
