Silverback or Scott

Hi Everybody,

 

I am looking to buy my first mountain bike. As i am starting off i dont want to spend too much. I am undecided between the Scott Aspect 10 and the Silverback Alpine 1.0

 

If there is anybody that can give me some advice as to what is a better brand. They noth come with very similar componemts

Does the anser change from Scott if the situation is as follows.

2013 Scott Aspect 610 - R8,000

vs

2012 Silverback Alpine 1 - R6,900

 

2012 SB has Recon shock and 2013 Aspect has XC30!

 

Or does it remain Scott, even at the price premium?

Value for money you wont easily beat Silverback. Entry level I would definately go for it. However once you get serious then look beyond....

It is a dilemma choosing. Also in market for a 29er. The scott scale 910 29er comes out with full XT and retails for about R31 000. Rumour has it that the new 2013 siverback storm race 29er will retail for around R35000 with full XX

 

What to do?

Buy a Felt. They got a nice new MTB range!!

Have a look at Hotspot Cycles. They stole our bikes and we bought 2012 Scotts for very good price there! I'm in the 7th heaven! Got them now for 2 weeks, rode my first race with them last weekend!

If you shop around you can get a 2012 Momsen 329 for 8k. Beats both those bikes on specs...
