Best Road Climbs in SA?

With the Giro tracking slowly toward the awesome Stelvio on the 26th it got me wondering what are the best / longest / most leg burning climbs in SA?

 

I'm looking to do a trip to the Etape next year followed by some of the classic mountains and figured I should start thinking about what I can do here as training.

Magoebas Kloof

 

Start at Haenertsberg.Fly down Georges Valley across the dam wall and up Magoegas Kloof to Haenertsberg

Top ride

 

Steak Egg and Chips washed down with beer to follow in the pub

There used to be a road race The Magoebas Challenge in the 80's.

That's a peach.

 

For a real ride, go Sabie, over Long Tom's into Lydenburg, than via Robbers into Pilgrims Rest, then up the bonnet and right back into Sabie.

I was thinking there must be something in Ceres or that way for the WC?

 

What about the road that goes out of George up the pass to the R62, think it's the R404? Drove down there last year going to Plett and it looked quite interesting.

I would imagine going up Van Rhyns Pass might get the HR up.That is just past Clannies

Some Really Awesome climbs in Ceres up to the Klondyke Cherry farm. Around 18km long at +- 6% and there two more similar climbs close by. Gido pass and one other.

I did the Sabie/hazyview trip in December - some good tough riding out there.
