Scooterza Posted June 4, 2012 Share The ONLY time I am not happy to wear cleats is over VERY technical stuff where I would like to have the option to put down my foot FAST and the extra half second it takes to uncleat makes me nervous. But the rest to of the time the extra power and control that cleats afford is great.

I only put my foot down when dismounting after the finish line when there is beer in sight. And it normally goes something like this "Yes dear, I WILL have another, thank you!" jannosmit

Either that or fall over after coming to a standstill...
mikeMT Posted June 5, 2012 Share I certainly do, however i was always hesitant to move over initially, however i am keen to see just how many riders still using tekkies.

But if you've never had reason to get your foot off the pedal (besides your post race beer stop), then you're not riding the tricky stuff... and not fast enough
mikeMT Posted June 5, 2012 Share A few weeks back i was literally too shot to remove my foot, mentally i knew what was happening but i just could not remove my foot, its as if nothing would operate following a serious workout and i literally just bailed with my bike at a complete standstill..................... terrible and both disgusting i know, but only be running with them for my second month now. Bad habits never die.....LOL

Thats the main reason why people do not like flat pedals. Get some decent shoes to ride flats for a change and try again, you'll be amazed by how much grip you actually have on the pedals. deviate

Nicola13 Posted June 5, 2012 Share Best thing that ever happened to me was my boyfriend putting on my cleat peddals and saying to me: "just try them, i'll take them off before the race tomorrow..." I rode around with them a bit and he taught me to fall over, cleat out, the whole story and when it came to please will you take them off now, he just refused... Never looked back from there! =Bones=
davetapson Posted June 5, 2012 Share Jeez Patches - that looks a bit radical. Do you really screw the shoes to the pedal with those grub screw thingies!? How do you uncleat? Pedal spanner...? Edited June 5, 2012 by davetapson DR ◣◢
