Haha, It would have been interesting to have Sagan in the mix as well... This finish suited his style... Cav does flat and fast, but not uphill... Good for Gorilla G!

Do you really think this vent less helmet fad gives that much of an advantage?

I agree, RooiWillie, the false flat / rise suited the power sprinting of Sagan.

Pity, that's racing. His front wheel actually buckled during the crash scene.

The aero helmet makes a lil' bit of a difference, I reckon.

And in aerodynamics, every bit counts.

Another exciting stage.

Would've loved the breakaway to get at least one rider over for 1st.

Tomorrow is another opportunity for the sprinters.

Then mountain time.

Sagan did a tuck 'n roll trying to avert a heavy crash.

Tch!

Awesome sprint finish for The Gorilla.

Goss just cannot get over first.

Cav had a good lead out train and the technical requirements of the final few kms derailed it.

I'm feeling for the breakaway group who just, just ran out of tarmac.

There just, just too much Tarmac!

The Mags Missile looked uncomfortable as if he also had no power in that sprint. Pity about Forrest. Finish suited him. The power of the Gorilla is awesome.

Ummm, that should be Manx Missile, Cav comes from the Isle of Man. Hs nickname has nothing to do with his mags!

If you're into stats and occurrences:

Interesting little statistic - Fabian Cancellara has now had more days in yellow than any other rider never to win the Tour.

Greipel does look like a Gorilla when he smiles. :w00t:

Looks like a boxer when not smiling.

Cancellara: winning the Tour is a dream not a goal

Swiss star not confident of his chances of reaching Switzerland in yellow

Tour de France leader Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack-Nissan) has admitted that he is not confident of his chances of wearing the yellow jersey when the race reaches Switzerland on Sunday. He also dampened speculation that he might target the Tour's overall classification in coming seasons.

This is so stupid, I mean, Thanks for stating the obvious!! Why even say something about it. The GC race hasnt even started! everyone knows that..

So i just come back from walking the last km of the stage ending in Metz. Absolutely flat as they basically come under the 1km flag with a nice long straight and no kinks in the road towards finish line. Road has just been resurfaced and is smooth smooth. Could be a slight chance of rain as its hot and humid weather for tomorrow. Could cause a few problems should the surface get wet as its really smooth. Going with Cavendish on this one. Will suit him.

How's Cav didn't see him in the sprint

He came fifth. Brailsford said he's still suffering from his injuries.

Edit: Just watched higlights now, Cav did take the intermediate sprint at 80-odd out. His team were leading him out for the final sprint, but they seemed to lose it with about a kay to go.

I saw Robbie Hunter at the back of the peloton at some stage. he must be taking a pounding. Phil L said Robbie had three crashes a few days ago then big one day before yesterday. Not for Sissies this ride. Haven't heard much of Darryl.
