Arrrgghhhh ... the last 11 mths have been hell since I gave up my awesome flexi hours job where I was able to commute to work each day for one 50km away. As a result my poor MTB has hardly seen me much and even less the last 15 weeks since my promotion.

It was such an awesome Sunday to have gone to Oak Valley but I had to work.

Worst of all is I was so proud with my weight loss but now I'm inching ever so closer back to my old weight.

We sit with the same problem. Winter and a quite demanding new job is not a condusive time to start or re-start cycling. Motivation ....... Motivation....... Motivation.

Feeling your pain! I also get on the scale every morning and watch those grams adding up to kilograms after being lean and mean from Epic training.

Need to enter another event. I am convinced that 'too busy to ride' is a fallacy - nothing like a goal and some pressure to get one to work more effectively and find time to train.

Just let the rhythm of the new working environment settle. You'll soon find the times to get out again. But yeah, now it's a bit of a beach - have the same prob in that it's dark when I get home, so midweek rides a no-go. Even thinking of trying to take up jogging again, just to do something...

You will never FIND time to ride you have to MAKE time! Remember that eventually your health will suffer and that will be of no use to you, your family or your employer ......

Dont worry too much, I have mates who have plenty of time to ride but they dont bother!

Go and have a fun ride somewhere first and then start again.

Well last night I did attach the rawl bolts to the garage wall for the resistance training apparatus and inflated the training balls. Em got out her Pilatus books and other training piccies. The spinner was dusted off, but today we leave again to the Free State for a two day round of site meetings....... Friday is now the date!!!!!!!

My theory is never to stop and don't external factors get in the way.

This time of the year is more trying as the cold settles in but if I stop now to get going again is going to be so tough I rather brave the cold.

A person will always MAKE time for the things that are important to him/her.

If you want to ride your bike you'll find time !!!!!

CB, can't you leave yourbike at work and fit in a quickie over lunchtime?? Assuming you can find some reasonably traffic-free riding? It's cool enough not to have to worry about showers and stuff and 45mins will be a good start... I used to work through lunch breaks but NO job's worth all the overtime I used to put in!

...I was so cold this weekend I couldn't sit still - so got the ol' road machine out for a mitchellin-man trundle Sunday, and took the MTB out in a force-12 gale on Saturday... Forgot to take kit (duh) so of course I punctured at the furthest point out at the bottom of the steepest hill. But slogging back against the wind was fun - new sport: extreme-blimp-bike-jogging!

Just do not go jump back in to your riding as if you didn't take time off... It seems to be a pretty good way to injure yourself ;-P
