under closer insection of the top riders routes James R did not do the full loop !

go look at his ride it starts at the grate and comes back down the one way , so yes then its possible to do 1h51 ( click on his time it will bring up his ride )

There is something fishy about all those times - when I ride the "cattle grate to cattle grate" loop it's 57.2km. The rides on strava vary between 52 and 54km...

Some okes did double lappers and some were part of longer rides from outside the reserve...

Time to head to SBR with my race legs on

Yep, register on Strava and you get names and surnames ;)

Ahhhhhh.right. Pah - Strava is for posers, braggards and show offs*

*because I'm not number 1 - if I was Strava would be for svelte individuals wanting to share their personal info for hundreds of adoring fans

****! Cancel my request for a lift then.

Fret not olde chap - I've just peaked for SA duathlon champs - after 40km I'll jump off and start running...

Right now, I'd be more comfortable running the entire loop.

is it safe to ride there alone?

Riding there alone is the best way to ride - real soulful stuff. I've never felt unsafe - apart from the time that a few jackals tailed me! Interval training at it's most raw!!

That said - keep your phone with you - never know when you're going to slash a tyre and not make it to the end. SBR is dead quiet during the week and quietish on the weekends - it's unlikely that someone will pass you unless you ride from 7am Sat or Sun.

yes, its quite safe. I ride there often alone midweek. You must be wary of oncoming traffic though, driving the wrong direction, some blind corners with the tall grass could leave you as a hood ornament on a staffbakkie. bad accidents there in the past. I have also accidentally ridden over a puff adder (shat myself) so try keep your concentration.

Reported the ride on Strava, with a long explanation w.r.t. to the SBR segment. He is still shown as the KOM on the side, but does not show on the list
