Just received the last chunk of SARS money, and promptly spent it on a Gopro :) Hotspot cycles reckon they're getting t wifi bacpac in early next week, it will be a great pairing with my galaxy tab.

We have had the gopro before and now have the Drift. I prefer the Drift, find it takes much better footage in changing light conditions i.e riding in and out of forests etc.

Use it on the mtb and motorbike and works well on both.

Made the "Gear of the Year 2012" list by National Geographic.

Pretty impressive spec wise... except for the lense angle. 75deg... very narrow when compared to the 170deg as specced on al the other action cams mentioned here.

Still nice and compact. $350 isn't cheap though. More than the US retail on a GoPro

GoPro is the shizz! One of my favourite purchases ever. It does so much more than you imagine of a camera for its price.

(I unfortunately drowned mine when I rushed and put the anti humidity strips in the side of the casing getting them caught in the seal when I locked the cover, charging to hit some waves...) Getting another later this year

Where do you get those strips?

Got mine from Sunset Surf Shop in West Coast Village Centre. Most of the stockists should have and if not can reach out to the distributor who is based in Muizenberg I think.

I have a Drift 170 HD camera for the motorbike. Hate the thing. I should have gotten the real deal - The GoPro camera.

http://www.actioncameras.co.za/images/P/Drift%20HD170%20Stealth%20280.jpg

Problem... I drowned on in Mozambique while snorkelling due to a waterproof pouch that leaked.

The remote did not work from day one and even though its been back to Action Camera, no action was taken to repair the device.

The flooded camera was replaced, but now I will never get the video back that I missed while in Moz. I mean I could have gotten some stunning footage while drifting along a coral reef. And sad thing is, in 2 years nothing will be left of that coral. So I will never get that memories back. And that is the sad part!

You actially drowned while diving????? Is that why you are not called Cois anymore...... welcome back, ghost or not!!!!!!

It's really interesting to see what's been used and how everyone rates each camera.

We've tested them all and the ones on www.actioncameras.co.za all come with our stamp of approval as being the beez knees! Worldwide, GoPro, Drift and Contour have always stood out as the best and for good reason. Great products with fantastic quality. There's a lot of other cameras out there (some have impressed us) but these are the best. There's an interesting one which just got announced by JVC which is excellent except for the battery life being 45mins :(

We have all these cams and every accessory you can think of in stock - including the WiFi BacPac for the GoPro.

Will keep an eye on this thread to see if there's any questions posted that we can help out with.

(Trying not to hijack the thread as a seller - just adding our 2cents worth)

PS: #Francois Marais please send us that Drift remote so we can replace it for you. Cheers

Warrick

Well what do you know, one of my buddies are importing these.

Its strapped to his head in the video on their homepage. http://www.camone.co.za/

Hopefully Ill get to test play with one soon. I must say I like the idea of the LCD screen so you can see what you are recording, angle of photos or review stuff you have just shot. It has a small light for night time shots, time lapse function, twin memory card slots, replaceable lens if you scratch yours, digital zoom and looks like you get a tad more accessories included for a reasonable price.
