Mojoman Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I am hoping to buy a new bike in Sept and would like to get myself a Giant Trance but I would prefer one without the tapered head but thats all I can find! So what happens to old stock from a few years back at bike shops? Do they send the bikes back to the manufacturer or or do they get stripped down and parts salvaged and frames melted down again or something?

Those who do have stock do a clearance sale through a particular shop (like Cycle Factory) or do a reduced price to all their shops. Unfortunately for you Giant's tend to sell the second they land on our shore so chances are close to 0 to find a new frame that old. Considered a reducer headset?

Seems like the tapered head is a selling point that increases the price quite a bit?
