Skewers, not the best place you want to save weight, just my 2c

When changing skewers go for Ti. 60% denser than aluminium and twice as strong.

Light skewers are cool but worrying about the wheel falling out is not.

If you get light ones get used to checking them before every ride as they don't clamp very well.

A light bike doesn't make so much difference. Mine is 7.5 kg's in race mode and I am happy with that considering it's a 63 cm frame.

Spend good money on some nice wheels as that's rotating mass, take a dump before a ride and lose the saddle bag with spares if you want to save some easy weight. Don't fill up your water bottles right to the top and save some more weight.

Hair cuts also save weight and make cycling more comfortable.

And with some nice wheels you feel like superman. That's definitely worth the cost of the wheels but you can pick up some great deals on a nice wheel set on the hub.

Train with your heavy wheels, two full water bottles even though you only going for a 50km ride as you will probably have two water bottles when racing.

I also don't trust very light skewers

Skewers I'm looking at are Ti, will probably be stronger than my current ones, so not really fazed.

Just be careful as he seems a tad dodge.

Thanks  but looking for something lighter.

Narrowed it Down to the Rotor S3X stem, 108g for 110mm.

And the Ritchey C260 stem, think it's 102g for 100mm.

Although the Ritchey is a nicer price.

Also looked at the Zipp Sl Speed, but too expensive right now, and for the saving it is not really worth it...

A friend of mine started riding with me in February and at one race he saw a Liteville and wanted it. The guy at the shop promised him that the bike will weigh only 10.5kg...super deal done.

End of June he built it up and never listened to a word i told him.

6800 euros later he received his bike with 9 speed XTR parts and used fork on it.........guess what it weighed 12.6kg.

Two days later the shop closed down.

Everytime we ride i show him what he could have bought for half the price and less weight.

He has now bought Ritchey tubbies and he weighs over 110kg

Therein lies the joke .... is he a fatty or a loose forward?

Okay, decisions have been made

Ritchey C260 stem, takes 36grams off the old one.

KCNC Ti Skewers, takes 66grams off the old set.

And Tune Wassertrager universal bottle cages, taking 62grams off the Elites I had.

Total saving is 164grams, less than anticipated but swapped items out for reliability and cost.

Cant wait to get them and fit them

Are those actual weights or taken off the product sites?

Best value for money were the Planet X stems at 126gr for R230.

ENVE stems are very nice.
