Just a short post so others don't fall in the same trap.

Solomans has a special going on the Camelbak Mule NV for R899.

I thought this was a great deal. I went onto the Camelbak website and studied their videos and decided the MULE and the hydration bag is the best avaiable.

When going into Solomans they said the difference with the Red and Black (more expensive) was the colour.

I bought it as the red is cool. A week later I opened it and found to my dissapointment that the hydration bag was a 2009 model and does not have MANY new feature as the 2011 bags.

I tried changing it and addressing it with Camelbak in the US and RSA but I was directed back to Solomans.

Guys if you buying the MULE, make sure you get the new bag as it has many cool feature. Quick way to know if it is the new bag is by looking at the quick realese at the bottom of the bag where the "straw" is attached to the bag.

I am also dissppointed that there is no year on the bag so it is very tricky. I wish Camelbak has a way to identify the old model and new model.

Dude, I am sure if you took it back to them they would have swopped it out for you - as long as you didn't use it?

And your topic heading is the only thing misleading.

I am almost 100% sure they didn't do it on purpose because the price was different.

If they had the same price for both models then maybe, but you chose the cheapest option, you got what you paid for.

If you buy something from Cajee's or Solomons you have to take responsibility for it, they offer good products at cheap prices, they are shopkeepers, nothing more. They don't ride bikes, they don't live bikes.

If you want expert service or advice then go somewhere where the people selling you the dope are also using the dope. Linden Cycles, Mike's Bikes, Cycle Tech midrand, Summit Cycles, there are many more...

It's like going to buy your wine at checkers, do you expect to get advice from the shop floor or do you pick yourself? if you choose a *** vintage you cant take it back and complain.

If you had studied the product like you stated, you would had of seen that the red one was a 2009 model. I don't see how you can blame Solomons for something you choose to buy.

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the rest of us. Making sure the bag is the latest model is indeed important. I spotted a local special the other day, online research showed it to be a 2010 Camelbak.

FEEDBACK:

The guys (and Owner) of Solomans called me personally and said that he would assist me to swapping it out.

This is amazing service. I am going to pop by this weekend to sort it out.

This was not a bashing of the store or brand; it was that we as consumer should be more aware of the difference of models etc...

Thank you to Solomans and Woodmead store staff for the amazing service.

Welcome to the Hub Solomon's. Nice touch for a small business like yours to be monitoring customer sentiment on Social Media.

Now if only retail in general would get it....

WOW! If I were the owner, I would have told you to F-off.

but well done Solomons and glad you sorted

good thing you are not the boss then!

Solomons, good on you for taking this up. Even if you might well loose a few SA rondt in the process you have surely entrenched a very good reputation with those who will hear of this story.

Well done and best wishes for your business, I wish more did as per what you are doing.

Disclaimer of sorts: I have never been to the store and being CT based I will more than likely never get a chance to visit the store, so my comment is based on what I have read here and is completely unbiased.

Did you discuss this with Solomon's and what was their reply?

That would have been my 1st choice and from the outcome would have achieved the desired result.
