Never ending @ Jonkershoek

Went out to Jonkershoek yesterday and was bowled over at how awesome the rejuvenated Never Ending trail is. At the top it has the old narrow trail with the steep embankment to make you think twice. At the lower sections it is super flowing and smooth. Had a few laughs seeing some of the skid marks were guys must of over cooked the route and ended up in the bush. I laughed because I almost did the same in a few spots. A huge thanks to the teams that put in the hours and sweat to get Never Ending opened again. I think AMA Rider was involved.

 

On the flip side we were disappointed that Canary 1 and 2 are closed due to forestry in the area.

Was there too, but riding it for the first time. Lovely stuff. Is it a one way trail?

Its a one way trail.... don't attempt to ride up Never Ending, you will annoy too many people.....

 

I did it a few weeks back. It was hilarious, didn't make the first left hand corner as I was on a new bike and there was a loose rock. Fell to the left (no a good idea on Never Ending) but luckily there were branches etc that I landed in so I didn't roll down the mountain.

 

They are doing some really nice work. I saw a video this morning of the new trail above Canary, looks awesome.

@ Summit bikes, You talking about the contour path that starts just below the block house. If so the first of the 3 single track descents has some eye popping switch backs . Once you have cleaned the skid mark from the inside of your pants the next two pieces of single track down to the valley are a absolute blast.

 

The great thing about Jonkers is that it has so many single track sections spread throughout the whole valley.

I just wish Jonkers could get some decent signage and routes maps up in order for those who do not frequent the trails to find the good stuff.

I have to agree, I have only been there once and basically ended up doing the loop around and the dam and we were extremely dissapointed

Go check the forum routes and trails, and then maps of western cape. Directs you 2 the iride@africa website. Has a map for jonkershoek and the single track!:-)
