Absolutely fantastic and well done Burry! Next Time!

I had my two sons nailed to their seats and glued to the TV watching you.

You have been instrumental in inspiring two more youngsters to take this gruelling sport seriously.

what a race! very tense - i was probably as exhausted as Burry. He rode like a champion. You did South Africa and South African MTBrs proud - well done Burry.

haha yes I was screaming so hard for him to win!! He did a very good job! Well done!!!!

i am happy how burry recovered from 19th however a rider of this class should never drop so deep into the field, almost Caster-esque. so a dramatic finish but we need to be honest here we all tipped burry for at least a top 3 if not the win. he was simply not in the same league as the top 2.

i blame his wife:) he needs to go monk

Not to change the topic, but what happened with Philip Buys? He came off at the start and was never seen again...

And Philip Buys? I saw he ate it right at the beginning, but expected him to come back better than that. 30th overall, I think?

You said it Excite... he came off the bike! :) I think he then had to come in for a technical at the first lap. It's very difficult to overtake, especially from right at the back and also proved how great Burry was coming back, although he should've been with the front group from the start.

You know what, you take a dive and all of a sudden you are behind the back markers, and it is hard work to get past them..... especially if these back markers carry their bikes down the rock garden.... really? at that level?

I think Philip did well considering his sudden unplanned dismount.

It's a bit of a cliche, but those guys really do make it look easy. Some of those sections are nuts. Plus they average 24kph, so I guess it is pretty intense out there.

Just disappointed cause I saw Phillip came top 20 a couple of weeks ago at a world cup race.

Well Done Burry ,I think there is still a 100% chance for the next two olympics. This iron man is the best ,if the race were longer to about 100km he would have taken it clearly.

Burry you make our South Africans proud Man !!! and with the 2012 EPIC win. KEEP GOING BURRY ,YOUR'E THE MAN !!!!

And well done on another Burry thread! we've sung his praises already, but its all good ..

Yes those Brit commentators were really poor, did not have much knowledge of MTB, and randomly chatted whilst guys were attacking etc, they missed a lot. Moved on to some Italian stream and got the cyclenews ticker up.
