Kona Kula Posted August 28, 2012 Share So I was riding this Sunday and decided to take an untimely dismount. This is the aftermath. Thanks to the Lady who stopped and took me to hospital and the guy who stopped and lent us his phone.Lessons learn't:1. Don't take untimely dismounts2. Make sure your phone works (mine wasn't)3. Make sure you have med aid number and other details with you.Last one seems obvious but I still didn't have them. The 2nd pic is straight after surgery. You can see how happy I was. And completely goofed.

Slowbee Posted August 28, 2012 Share But where is the bike ? And is it ok ? Hope you heal soon. And that looks painfull !
Kona Kula Posted August 28, 2012 Share It happened down republic road on the pavement. Don't ask what happened it was the smoothest part of the ride. This is my second set of Ti bones. I have some in my wrist from 3 years ago. I also know what pethedine feels like and may have sounded too eager cause they only gave me one shot, then found something else to give me. I was pretty high all the same.Med aid card and someones phone number, amazing the things that you forget when you injured.
Iron Midge Posted August 28, 2012 Share Ouch, had exactly the same thing happen 5 weeks ago and just went for my first ride this weekend. Get a good physio and do the exercises!
Kona Kula Posted August 28, 2012 Share But where is the bike ? And is it ok ? Hope you heal soon. And that looks painfull ! Bike handled very well, slight chip on the paintwork. Was the first thing I checked before i realized the bone was moving. I think I cushioned its fall.
Ceres Posted August 28, 2012 Share Did they give you loads of Pethedine? That stuff is awesome, when I broke my collarbone and I got my first shot I wanted to moer out the bed on the other side so I can get some more of the stuff! My drug of choice. When I broke my collarbone I think I could have tried a backflip after the Pethedine injection.
Kona Kula Posted August 28, 2012 Share Ouch, had exactly the same thing happen 5 weeks ago and just went for my first ride this weekend. Get a good physio and do the exercises! That sounds promising. Wasn't sure how long I would be out for.
Kona Kula Posted August 28, 2012 Share My drug of choice. When I broke my collarbone I think I could have tried a backflip after the Pethedine injection. When I broke my wrists I had to have 3 ops. So I became very familiar with Peth. I used to take my drip around the ward at night feeling the textures of the walls. Until the nurses found me wondering around. hboli4 Posted August 28, 2012 Share Hope you heal up soon!!! When I go running or cycling I make sure I have my ICE-Id on me. Got one after taking a tumble on my mtb some years back, I was lying in the veld, winded and unable to move. ICE ID
