Just remember no use getting light wheels and then putting heavy tyres on

2x Geax Saguaro 1540 g without Stans

2x Spez Fast Trak s-works 1100g big diff

2x Spez Fast Trak Control 1260g

If I were you go for the Arch EX

what you dont hear about all these brands is that the back-up if you break a spoke or Hub

Stans parts easily available, so if anything goes easy to repair like at a stage race etc

All the other brands can be a struggle- Easton, Mavic etc, I have a set of Eastons and shudder to think if anything breaks on them

My American Classic Race 29 wheels have a claimed weight of 1419g.

+1 and well priced

I will upgrading to these when I get my 29 er later this year. Spoke to the Hanekom brothers (20th in the epic) they ride them, they say they are a little soft and dent a little but then they are crazy on the downhills so I'm not surprised.

Why would you buy a wheel that is so soft, I had a set of AMC for my 26" and it was the same, great wheels but way to soft and then you can have problems seating them if the dent is to big ... seems like a waste of money for the sake of light wheels

I weigh around 90kg so in your ballpark. Been riding on a Ruan Deysel wheelset with Crest rims for over a year now. Not one ding or dent and they're on my hardtail so take some extra punishment. I'm not really much of a "float like a butterfly" kinda rider! I put my ACs on my full suss because on the hardtail they just took too much punishment. Rear one is quite badly dented - nothing that a set of water pump pliers couldn't fix :D - but it takes some effort to seat a new tire. Really like the ACs but they're a lot softer than the Crests. Get a handbuilt wheelset from one of the local wheelbuilders and maybe go Crest up front and Arch on the rear. You will not regret it.

The comment about light tyres is probably far more important than light wheels. I know lots of guys with nice light wheels and then they put 2.4 UST Mountain Kings on which weigh 800g each for 26" tyres! Look for those Spez tyres mentioned or Schwalbes.
