Got clearance to spend on a new Mtb (as the old one got liberated). Now for the shopping trips.

What specials ext are available within this price range?

Massive difference, yes, but only if it is worth it. Still got to feed the family at the end of the day. You know the possibility of buying for components and then putting it all together afterwards. I am open for all advice, apart from buying a 29er or giving the money to nishiki (unless it is in exchange for a yeti and bits) and definitely not to the ANC.

You are right, but then he'd have to factor in the bibs, aero helmet, bar ends and anus lube.

I like you way you are thinking, 29ers are road bikes in disguise.

Considering the above vitriol, I would take it with a pinch of salt. I had a Zula and am now on a Niner. With the kind of riding we have in Gt, the 29er is definitely faster, but not nearly as much fun. So what sort of riding do you want to do? I know I love my Niner in races, but miss my Zula in any other situation.
