Cherise Stander not selected for UCI World Marathon Championships

But seriously... Brendon Fairclough got shafted out of representing his country at UCI World champs, and this is a guy who placed 5th in the world champs the previous year.

I'm not defending CSA, I'm just saying, these things happen all over to higher ranked people!

How she remains so up beat I don`t know.

Does CSA know about anything that goes on in local races? Do they even attend or review results?

Looks more like a Marie Antionette type rule. We all know how that ended.

Well she is off to the Road Champs:

"On my way to world champs .."

Let's face it, although she won the SA Marathong MTB a few weeks ago, she is by no means a regular at mtb events, and perhaps that is the issue, I think she should make her mind up which way she wants to go and focus on that.

i know its off topic but the olympic thing still gets to me, they send her last time as a green 18 year old to get the experience and then 4 years later they dont send her, when she clearly is good enough to go, why then send her 4 years ago?? aren't you mean to nurture talent?

it might be a bit late in the day to 'all of a sardine' be on the marathon team, but she knows and we know she's probably better than the three that they have already chosen.....

Obviously she has the talent and trains really hard, but although doing both women road and MTB might result in podiums in SA, internationally you'll have to focus on one or the other otherwise you'll get crushed.

I actually don't know that much about her race results so can't really comment. Just a general opinion.
