Gee reading about this aggression between roadies and car drivers in Gauteng, I am seriously worried about coming to Joburg in November for the 94.7

Is everybody up there so stressed?

Maybe I should rather stay in my village where cars greet bikes greet mountain bikes greet runners, then we swap roles and do the same....

No need to stress brother, the 94.7 doesn't go through Atlasville.

To OP and other peeps who have clearly read the law stating it is illegal to ride next to each other and thus clearly feel that the least that should be done is to move to single file when you hear a car approaching from behind, especially on a single lane road:

We need to realise that it is, according to these other cyclists, absolutely fine for cyclists to decide when they want to ride legally and courteously. At the same time these same people will bitch and moan about cars deciding it is safe to pull out in front of them, taxis to stop when and where they feel like, etc. just remember animal farm... Our govt supports them in this. All are equal, some just more equal than others.

Question

So it's ok to ride in a bunch in a road race in B or C or even G bunch were there is no road closure?

just ride a MTB and you'll be loved

Just kidding roadies, you know I love you....

Yeah Karma, you see I just don't get why you didn't just drive past, wind down your window, say "morning guys, cool day hey?" and start your day on a positive note rather than bitching like a 5 year old? Flip, I don't care if you ride a road bike mountain bike or grandmother, as long as it makes you happy - we're cyclists that's it. I wonder if marathon runners hate cross country runners and tennis players hate squash players as much as we hate each other. I prefer using my energy for riding rather than moaning. You know I love you!

ah, but you gonna do it on a road bike, right? (the ones you hate hahahah). Am aiming for 3:45, not sure about my start time though. We'll make sure we stay in single file for the whole race then.

I see on here the sheeple love throwing that popcorn analogy around.

I will rather settle for fries.

You can make a boerewors roll to go with the fries...

I only read to page 5 and then couldn't wait any longer before jumping to the end to comment.

I'm not saying one is right and one is wrong, but my opinion is more in general. Why do us South Africans have to be so aggressive in our thinking and actions? Why do we have this mentality that we are better than anyone else and damn be somebody that messes with our way. Would it really have been such an inconvenience to slow down, wait for a passing opportunity and then pass? Why do we want to prove somebody else is wrong and that we're right. Live and let live.

We are so stressed up and full of frustration that any little thing blows our tops. Where's the love? We'll have to go through a massive attitude change for this country to work and it should start with each of us on our own.

So open another thread about Karma taking a photo while driving. :) The point of THIS thread is the roadies that is in the wrong.

Nothing breaks formation faster than bumping the back wheels.

Inconsiderate twats...

I like to "touch" the back of idiot drivers' cars with my bull bar....wouldn't work with cyclists though...
