Joberg2c entries ????

Just curious!!! Sani entries fill in hours, for the race, adventure ,and now trail. I entered joberg2c this year (i am still doing sani )and have done it for the last 3 years if sani is sooooo hard to get into why does joberg2c not fill up so quick considering the last three days is the sani route????? Obviously cost is a factor, but the waiting lists for sani are still huge yet I see there is still place available for joberg2c and it's been open for ages.I am starting to wonder about the joberg2c race if it was clever of me to enter????

If you want to sell your entry to me for a drastically reduced rate - let me know!!!!!

Would love to do that race but the price tag is a bit big!

Slowly, slowly just saying its a bit strange!!!! But do agree the price tag is steep hope it's worth the cash paid for entry

I did Sani2c and Joberg2c this year. Didnt think I would ever give up my Sani entry, but I will only be doing Joberg2c next year. The Sani section is just sooo much better during Joberg2c, as there are far less people. Joberg2c was only 4 days of work leave this year, and I think 5 for next. But can understand if you have family commitments, then 9 days is a lot.

Another factor is the fitness level required. You can wing it for a 3 day stage race that is actually quite soft (apologies to those who struggle with it, but Sani isn't that bad).

The commitment in terms of time and effort to handle 9 days is an order of magnitude greater. You have to start training 4-6 months prior to the event and have to peak at a minimum of 12-15 hrs per week.

That puts the large % of people off.

Awesome awesome race and totally agree that it's the best way to do the Sani route - ZERO congestion. Wonderful riding and also 9 days of nothing to think of but your bike, food and sleep! Would do it again if I had the moolah!!

That is exactly what I believed. Until I started training for it. I thought I was going to suffer like no other, and I hate riding disctric road with a passion (but loved every second of Joberg2c, best experience of my life and I recommend it to any cyclist).

My training was on aveage 6 - 8 hours a week, starting in Feb (I always take December off, and I was moving house in Jan). Consisted on 3 x 45 min spinning classes a week, and weekend rides on Sat and Sun of 2 - 3 hours. Did the odd weekend race as well. My maximum training peak was 10 hours over the Easter weekend (but I did have a good base). In the end I comfortably finished mid field.

I managed to do the first 5 days of the 2012 joBerg2c before a knee injury stopped my adventure. As far as 'racing' goes, I only want to do the joBerg2c, but money is an issue for me now. I desperately want to go back in 2013 and finish the darn thing, but building a new business and just having moved city does not really help with training or getting the money put away to go do this.

I other words, it is simply awesome. From the trails, the people you meet, the food, oh the food...

Worth every cent, if you ask me.

Well....I have had the privilidge to do it two years ago.

What stops me from doing it again?

Family time away from home for almost 2 weeks.

Cost.

If you are a MTBer, this is a MUST DO event and you will not EVER, NEVER EVER regret it!
