Giro d'Italia 2013

Its getting close between Cav and Cuddles for the points jersey, and last year he missed it by 1 point, and he is running out of sprint stages so yeah, he was hoping to be in contention today, but that final climb was his undoing #cavmiffed

Hoping Cav gets it, he certainly deserves it

According to L’Équipe, Urán’s most likely destination is Omega Pharma-QuickStep. The Belgian team has plenty of top-class riders, but lacks an outstanding contender for the grand tours.

wonder how that will pan out for Cav'. He's done his time trying to win stages of le tour on his own while everyone else is chasing GC aspirations with a team for that. That was his wish for leaving Sky and getting a team that is focused on getting stage wins on the flat.

I agree, as a top flight team OPQS have looked lacking this year without Boonan and to be honest Cav' has single handedly given the results in the early season, minor classics and now grand tour pt1.

Will they be happy with classic focus and a bucketful of sprint stages net year? Who knows. Lot of people chasing GC and not many looking for stages a la HTC.

Been thinking about Cav' and Uran in a team together after reading about OPQS' interest.

Then again, there'll be many offers for the Colombian.

Porte & Uran as team leaders - yes.

Grand tour winners - no.

Really?

Let's see what the future holds.

I also know that GT winners are not around every corner.

I don't think so but hey I might be wrong. For me Froome is the next superstar.

One rider who has impressed me this year is Betancur. Only 23 and some serious fighting spirit.. those attacks on climbs from far out... Going to be a great classics rider and if he can do something about his time trialing skills, should be on the podium (or top step) of any grand tour he enters in the decade to come.

Yeah, the Dawg is awesome.

Hope he can wear yellow into Paris for the 100th TdF.

He may just want to lighten up a bit and smile :whistling:

Interesting bit from cyclingnews

... Urán won’t be staying with Sky because he wants to ride the Tour next year as a team leader, and Sky already have Froome, Wiggins and Porte, so there are too many ambitious riders and not enough space to accommodate them.”

According to L’Équipe, Urán’s most likely destination is Omega Pharma-QuickStep. The Belgian team has plenty of top-class riders, but lacks an outstanding contender for the grand tours.

Good move, Uran is wasted at Sky as he will never be more than a workhorse for Wiggins and Froome. In my opinion he is grand tour winner material and he needs to move on. Omega would be a good home as well, deep pockets, well run and well financed, I think he will do very well there.

Yeah movistar is having a great Giro

Indeed, this is a super team and not one of the big budget ones either, compared to big budget teams like say Radioshack they have done remarkably well, whereas RS have been dismal, snoozing in the sun at the back and looking for all like a B grade continental team, with their access to resources and knowledge they have really disappointed, seems morale is at an all time low there.
