Fiziik Arione Saddle set-up tips?

Recommended Posts

Trying out a Fiziik Arione wingflex saddle tonight and wanted to know if their are any tips on set-up that I must do. If not will set-up at same dist from Bars as other saddle and ensure absolutely level.

Is that it or is there something else I need to do (was sure I read on the hub that the set-up of the Fizziik is more critical than other saddles)

You will sit further back on this saddle then on a normal one plus it is longer then a normal saddle. So the best is to sit on it without padded shorts and then make adjustments.

depending on what saddle you used before,  you might have to lower your seatpost.

also check your knee over spindle position while sitting on the old saddle and then ensure you have the same when you sit on the FIZIK.

setting the distance from the saddle nose to the bars / stem the same as the old saddle is not going to work out

-- the FIZIK is longer --

if you can get the center of the old saddle measure that and then ensure that the center of the FIZIK saddle is the same distance from the stem/bars as the center of the other saddle was - this could give you a good starting point.

Thx. I was going to ensure that the saddle height was identical i.e. taken from the top of the saddle to BB so may have to lower/lift  seatpost.

Regarding the length of saddle it looks like the Fizzik is actally longer at the back and the rail position looks to be in the same position if I check against my curent saddle.

Busy comparing my saddle; Selle San Marco SKN PRO vs Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow and Fiziik Arione. Rode S/I Flite Gel Flow on weekend and really enjoyed - very comfortable!!! Trying Fizzik this afternoon.

THE back triangle flares up, so when you level the seat put  the spirit level on the nose of the saddle and not the heal.  So when the saddle is level it will look as if it is pointed about 2% nose down.

Ok, I put it across the length of the saddle from nose to heel and was quite uncomfortable in the front. Explain Kona Fan please where I must use the spirit level - must be "dof" wednesday for me?

Are you saying that the level must not cover the whole saddle ?

Cool, Thx. So maybe the way that I did it meant that the fron was too high which vcaused the discomfort.

The Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow was way more comfortable on a 70km ride on sunday than the Arione was yesterday on a 20km.

Keep in mind that the Arione takes about a week to ride in.  NEVER judge it before that.  +-15 hours.

Good luck.  The butt takes quite a beating that first few days.

After that.  NOTHING.  Thumbs%20Up

Spidey, tested one for a few rides only.  So you say I should use it for 2 weeks (I only do 10-12 hours weekly ok.  I are a SLACKER!!!!)

Yes....you have to ride it in if it is still new.....Think the SLR's also has a work in period to shape your but...

OK, sorry, FAT lazy slob of a slacker.

Hmmm, no to see if paying R1500 and testing a Arione is worth it.

Spidey I doubt that butt will be shaped by a saddle, I guess the saddle will change shape for sure LOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

The problem is NOT that it is uncomfortable on my butt. I seem to have picked up a niggling groin problem and when I tried the SE Flite it was the first time I completed a ride of any distance without pain. Yesterday put on the Fizik and after 10km felt the pain (actually quite comfortable on the butt part!). Quite a big price difference so was wanting the Fizik to work as was cheaper. It appears the cut-out and soft gel of the Flite may be alleviating the problem while the saddle shape of the Fizik is highlighting the problem.

Any ideas will also be helpful.

okay checking on other forums, there are two hints

firstly, the saddle must not be level but rather the rear must "flare" up.  So only the nose should be level.  ie sprit level on the front half of the saddle.

secondly, you should more the saddle forward by 10 - 12 mm from your previous saddle setup, as the saddle is longer and the rails are also longer.
