Please help with any suggestions.

I am doing long hours in the saddle at the moment.

The seam on the padding on my favourite shorts came loose during a ride a while ago. This was a five hour ride and the loose edge really chowed me in the one side of the groin area.

Got home and applied cream.

The problem is that I am doing six rides a week and the problem is not clearing up.

It just doesnt get a chance to recover.

I cannot stop my rides now as all the previous training would be for nothing.

I was wondering if wearing stockings, (short ones) under my cycling shorts may help.

Or is there some wonder cream.

Any advice will be appreciated as this is very irritating and actually is becoming painful now.

Best advice for chafing, from my experience - let it heal first. Otherwise it won't heal properly and you're going to sit with a constant chafing issue. You don't need to sit out a week, just monitor it and see when it looks decent.

Apply some Quadriderm cream.

From your pharmacy. It is a cream with some cortico0steroids in, and solves almost ANY dermatological ailment.

Try and cover up the area during your rides, that the seam doesn't irritate the troubled spot further.

PS Just get a script for that cortizone cream.

Exactimondo! Cortisones are generally banned. Ask LA he said it was in his sunblock, pffff.

I chafed a few weeks ago during durbanville fun ride from my bib bunching up. Bought some nexcare tape and taped over the raw bits before riding. Works a charm, healed nicely without sacrificing ride time. The tape is waterproof and one of the recommended uses was prevention of blisters. Got it at dischem.

I find that Zambuk works a dream too. Seeing as we all seem so comfortable talking about our nether regions. I also experience a problem on longer rides. Bascially where the fold is where you leg meets your bum, i get something that only best be described as an blind pimple. Although it isnt a pimple. I swells up and is extremely sore. I used to think it was caused by the fabric of my bibs folding into the crease in that area. I had lost weight so i thought my shorts were just too big. I have gone down 2 sizes in bibs since then and still have the same problem. Any one else experience this and what did you do to solve it?
