according to what I can see it is only the single speeds that has carbon belts...please send a link to the 18 gears one which has the carbon belt, need to know how they handel the 'swithching of gears'...

The Rohloff hub has 18 internal gears, so essentially you have a singlespeed setup with a special hub.

I was looking at the pictures - the hub (14 internal gears) was still used with the normal chain, with the carbon belts they use the pinion setup (BB area on normal bikes) and that it 18 gears.

 

Over all - not something I have seen before, always wondered if something like that could work (closed mini gearbox) in bikes.

I will go read more so I can know how it works before I ask my million questions: like does it also have oil inside, etc.
