My #Enduro got some love recently.

Black and red Marsh Guard to go with the red decals on the bike.

29x2,5" Maxxis Minion DHF on the front.

29x2,35" Schwalbe Rock razor SG on the rear.

Zee stoppers.

The Specialized tyres were awesome as far as grip and rolling resistance goes but far too thin for the rocks of Hakahana.

Next in line for upgrade will be the fox shock. I have my eye on a Rockshox Monarch plus RC3 debonair.

Looking sweet!

Looks like it deserves a DB Inline though ....... :whistling:     (if the frame can accommodate it)

Frame can accommodate it and it can be ordered with the Spaz mount, it was my first option until I was advised against buying one. A mate from Spaz tells me they have been going through DB inlines on enduro's lately.

2.5 too thin!!!

Lol. Should have gone for the 2.7 :)

But the 2.5 is plenty fat. Same as a 2.35 schwobbly

The 2.5 is more than sufficient, any wider and it'll be a fat bike!

Be a good idea to read as many tests and reviews on the CC DB series rear shocks.

Spending quality time on one in the workshop as well as on the bike speaks greater volumes than mere hearsay ;)

Why don't you guys rather give the folks a call at Cycles Africa (Cane Creek SA Importers) who can give proper feedback - not a Spez store.

"This is not a shock for everyone. Riders looking to spend little time dialing in suspension are better off on the simpler offerings from Fox and Rock Shox. Have so many ways to adjust suspension can be daunting, but Cane Creek offers a basic tuning guide with the shock, a “base line” setting for many suspension systems, and an online forum, the Lounge, where riders can share tuning tips."

Bibi, sorry bro. I know you sell the CC shocks so I get it, but I'm not going on mere "hearsay from bikeshops". They are a failure on the part of CC. Sorry, but that's just the truth of it.

Edit: I'm not keen in speaking on behalf of someone who's permission I didn't ask. Mea culpa.

From personal experience, the guys at specialized speak as if anything that touches a specialized is the greatest thing on the face of the earth. That being said, if guys at specialized are saying the db inline is *** when the expert and s-works enduro is spec'ed with the db inline. Then something is seriously wrong...

I don't doubt that the db inline is an awesome shock, reliability just seem to be an issue. Be it in general or just when paired with the enduro.

A shock developed by Cane Creek with the help of Ohlins and their twin tube technology. How bad could it be!

Ohlins... now there's a shock I'd love to see on my enduro but with its price tag it's not going to happen :(

Bibi, sorry bro. I know you sell the CC shocks so I get it, but I'm not going on mere "hearsay from bikeshops". The friend of mine works for Spez ditectly and is involved in building up bikes for their entire TTB fleet as well as ambassadors. All their CC DB's failed - every one of them blew their damper circuit. They are a failure on the part of CC. Sorry, but that's just the truth of it.

I know all the CCDB's (air) gave huge issues. Every one I know popped... repeatedly.

I was not aware that the CC in-lines were failing too.

Quick question, was it a mission to get the paint job done?

My sukuma is looking a bit rough!

Nope, not a mission at all.

I just stripped the components off the frame. sent it to the factory in PMB, where they did all the prep work and powder coating, weld checking, bearing replacement etc. (They usually would do the decals and clear powder coat too, but I designed and cut my own custom ones), then they'd send it back to you.

I'll verify that today with the folks at CC USA & Cycles Africa RSA.

That would be a serious setback and when there are any hassles with CC components the are brilliant at solving and sorting out any issues. They also notify all Importers & Dealers (OEM guys included) if there are such problems.

Let's see what interesting info we can glean outa this;)
