Have you got 1x10 or 2x10?

What cage length should work best for 2 x 10 with 36-11 ?

I tried the long cage SLX on it & works good.

Didn't notice the shifting being that much harder as well.

Currently running 2x10. 28/40T chainrings. To accommodate the 40T I went with the long cage (I am told a medium may have worked).

Moving to 1x10 with a 34T or 36T upfront so a medium would work with that but will be keeping the long cage.

Note: running with a 11-36 cassette.

I have a Stumpy FSR Comp with Fox CTD 130mm up front.

I'm super happy with it, but just been wondering from a purely curious point of view whether one is limited to that travel or would I be able to run a fork with say 140mm travel up front?

Specialized says you can run the stock +10%, so 140mm is good. Just be aware of the increased axle-to-crown measurement and its effect on bb height and the bikes angles.

FWIW, the new Rockshox Pike has a lower A-T-C than the Fox 34, so it should make for a better swap.

haha! i know right! when i read that i immediately put my girlfriend on auction on ebay.

then i realised that i long travel stumpy wont bring me coffee in the morning.

so now i am saving up. (sucks being a student)

DUDE! you have to send me links to all this info. I have been wanting to buy a GT Force because I want more travel than my 120mm stumpy. If it is really possible to go 140mm front and back on a 120mm stumpy without messing up the geometry or compromising the frame I will scrp the idea of buying a Force!

I moved my PYGA 29r fork from 120mm to 140mm (with Pat's consensus :whistling: ) and it is noticeably different. It is a 20mm difference as opposed to 10mm and I lowered the seat at the same time so the overall ride has changed...

Thanks.

I swapped the stock 90mm 6degree stem for another Stumpy 75mm 5deg stem and that alone makes the bike feel more aggressive. Will go and ride some single track in Deer Park this afternoon to see the difference. 90mm just felt clumsy.

Same here.

Except the "Moving to 1x10" part.

Might be doing that later, but I just ditched the 1 ring for now & must admit that it has great enough range for me.

So you running 40T with 11/36... .

No no no... sorry for sounding ambiguous.

What I meant is that I moved from 3x10 to 2x10 with clutch RD recently & that's good enough for me (for now)

Running 40/28
