I have to agree. Yes, it is alot of money. But at the end of the day the event is organised properly. The organisers have put up an event that everyone is happy about....and that shows in the numbers.

Look at 5150....thats grown even though the entry is double the price of JHB tri! Having said that, JHB tri is no longer! I will rather pay a bit more where I know the event is organised properly.

You need to experience IM before you can judge! No event beats this!!! And yes, it is probably time to have a 2nd event to allow for more choice, but until then i will carry on doing IM! Going back for my 3rd (in a row) 70.3 with my wife.

Having done my first full IM this year I would happily pay double the entry fee IM is that AWESOME.... Maybe I can say that easily as I earn a good salary, but trust me even if I was broke I would save every month to pay for an IM entry. Hell, I would sell all my *** except my TT Bike, wetsuit and running shoes if I had to!

And I don't care if i get injured a week before the race and dont get a refund - the diligence, focus and health benefits of training 10-18 hours a week for 6 months is worth way more than R4k. If not for Ironman I would probably blow that much and more in 6 months on booze and pizzas....

Looking forward to the journey and seeing you all on the beach next year!

I see so far Jodie is the only pro that's entered.

Great to see her supporting IMSA again - we may as well adopt her as our own - she rides with an SA flag sticker on her bike (and no union jack that I can see)...

I assume they don't limit pro entries, otherwise it might be an unfair contest! Anyone have info on the pro entry side? When can they enter up to?

I got an email on monday saying that my entry has been revoked due to me not paying. Thought oh cr@p. In mail it said that I must join waiting list. Registered again and was put on waiting list. Number 43 on list. with in 10min I got an email to say that I have been allocated an entry. I was so happy but had to scramble to get cash together. Luckily I managed. Bring on the training and bring on the pain

BOOOM - entry paid and committed to this now. Wife is pregnant and due a few weeks after, that baby better not come early... ;-)

Better give this one horns then, there could be a bit of a lay off coming for you

Firstly you have not entered or to my knowledge even compete in triathlon (do you?). The fact that it was sold out 6 months before is probably an indicator that it is not as expensive as you are elluding to. Rather enter before complaining about the ethics of the refund policy. Stop begruding the people who actually care about the sport and prioritise it. If its not your priority that fine but why troll and mess it up for everyone else.

Nice to see people so passionate about something. The comparison to Apple is fair, only a handful of companies out there whose customers are loyal enough to actually get a tattoo of the registered logo.

I haven’t done an Ironman, but that definitely doesn’t mean I can’t comment on it.

I have done a few triathlon events over the years, but have never been TSA registered/member of a club. Got 5 Totalsports challenge individual medals in a box at home which I suppose is someway between 70.3 and a full IM.

If Challenge Cape Town could devise a feasible route I’d be in (if the price was right).

I'm also in. Got my mail last night and we got paid this morning so went ahead and entered...

Sorry, no TT machine for me. Rellie Roadbike with clip-ons
