I did 18 hours this weekend, three swims of 4 km each, 75 km in 5 hours of running and 400 km in 10 hours of cycling, am feeling really guilty that I had to cut my training short

You are so funny

You really should start training.

Quick question - how do you guys balance races between training?

Do you have a small taper that week or train hard up until the day? Do you enter The Argus/Gun Run ect

Depends on the race. Longer taper for IM, shorter - 1 week taper for 70.3, no taper at all for olympic or middle distance tri's, Argus, half marathons etc.... the latter are just training for 70.3 / IM.

Have entered Argus but will ride from my house to the start and then back home, plan to either go the clappers on the front of the bunch or hang at the back to stay out of trouble and just end up with a 160 km training ride

I was referring to races in between Jailbreak, Die Berger et al. Races where I would still like to do well but essentially sacrifice a week of hard training leading into the race.

Also will ride to the Argus (it is close however will have to go up Kloof Nek after ...)
