460 grease

Mobilith SHC™ Series greases are superior performance products designed for a wide variety of applications at extremes of temperature. They combine the unique features of synthetic base fluids with those of a high quality lithium complex thickener. The wax-free nature of synthetic fluids and the low coefficient of traction (compared with mineral oils), provide excellent low temperature pumpability and very low starting and running torque. These products offer the potential for energy savings and can reduce operating temperatures in the load zone of spherical roller and ball bearings. The lithium complex thickener contributes excellent adhesion, structural stability and resistance to water.

I cannot claim for how long it can resist water but I am willing to give it the benifit of the doubt.

You have to use water resistant grease in boat trailer wheel bearings and boats even if they are exclusively used in fresh water inland 800kms from the sea.

Lots of buzz words and good sentence structure. Without a doubt written by an advertising agency to help sell the product.

Yup. Just what we need on our bikes.

Extreme temperatures

Low temperature pumpability

Low coefficient of traction

Low starting torque

Energy saving potential

Excellent adhesion and

Structural stability.

How did we get by without all these features?

Lol. I can't even find the word "pumpability" in the dictionary. Grease so good it effective smears the English language.

Ja, my spell checker sounded an alarm when I typed it in but I had to trust the original text and turn on over-ride. I'm amazed they didn't use my favourite grease word "lubricity".

I have a plan. Lets do an experiment. We start with a fresh wheel - a front one since the bearings on both sides are equally exposed. We fit new bearing balls and use your grease on the one side and any old grease on the other side. Upon assembly, we inject 3mm of water into each side. We then go for a 20km ride and examine both sides. I say they will both be equally emulsified. You say the one will be better off than the other.

I see that you are in George. You will have to nominate a credible witness for this side of the world.

Here's a tip for using any old grease...

go to the nearest Vet clinic. ask them for a used (i.e old) BIG syringe ....A horse evr will be a bonus...

take said syringe and put your grease into that...makes for a perfect and presice grease dispenser!!

Note: just make sure the dog / horse did not have rabies!! (just kidding)

I bought el cheapo grease guns with a chainreaction.com order, those that take the tubes of grease. No 1 has Park Grease...... Just because I had it, no 2 has white molybdenum grease for the freehubs and STi's and no 3 has copper slip...... Just to poison everything around me.

mm is a measure of LENGTH - not VOLUME... try ml - short for millilitres.... :)

Second hand syringe needles are supposed to be destroyed by medical practices, not given away as grease guns... if you do manage to get one, then sterilise it properly before using it - just in case you cut yourself with it or stick it in yourself - pouring a kettle of boiling water over it should be good enough.

You can also consider blunting the needle on a fine stone before you use it too, and store it with a cork stuck on the needle.

and PLEASE - KEEP it OUT of reach of kids....
