Am waiting delivery of my On One carbon rigid (should be here next week). Have locked out my manitou R7 fork for the last 10 rides or so (very little movement when locked out) and have enjoyed the trails just as much as with the suspension. The first couple of rides my arms felt it, but now not an issue.

Cannot wait to get the fork on my bike at have a lighter front end

Please give us feedback how you find it? I am keen to get one. The Niner looks great but is a bit pricey for me.

Yes I can vouch for the chunkies...

What about a bigger volume front tyre? Like the Ardent 2.25? obviously on low pressure.

Another question: what about the On One carbon rigid forks?

I run a 2.1 crossmark on the front. Purely because I know and love the crossmark. I know exactly how fast i can hit a corner. cant find bigger than 2.1.

However at the SA single speeds at thaba last year I had a tumble moment and got a flat wheel near the beer stop (i was carring nothing but a beer funnel) so walked there and while having downing my beer Crusher pulled in with a flat back wheel and he kindly donated his front to me.

He was running a very soft Schwable something 2.5 and it felt like a tractor tire (I could barely keep it on the singletrack, always felt like it was off on eitherside) but is was a very comfy ride.

I know...fekkit...like that other bump at the shell garage, when I didn't have a long run up...no problem. longer run-up to thing gives me time to think about how I am going to see my ringpiece.

haha and you rode up there fine.

Will be a 26er fork as am old school, but will let you know what I think and how the difference is from locked out suspension to carbon rigid

I'm also use to the Crossmarks LUST, so will rather stay with that then. Thanx

I've got the Kona P2 steel fork on my Unit and the Niner RDO fork on my Ti Pipedream. I've been riding rigid now for about three years and there's no going back. The Niner is on a whole different level. Both forks smooth out the chatter, but the steel fork dulls the trail a bit for me. I have 2.25 tyres on both bikes, Ikons on the Unit and RaRa's on the Pipedream. Thinking of going to a Nobby Nic 2.35 for the front or an Ardent 2.4.

What do you mean by "dulls the trail"?
