There's plenty to go around on the classifieds , always amazes me the sheer volume of stuff getting moved everyday. You gotta watch like a hawk though, it's random, I've often been reading a topic and I'll see something I want in that little side bar, quick press mouse button and lo and behold no ones got there before me or not....

There was a set of XT brakes for R750 in pristine cond the other day and I had just got some Hopes, I saw the ad about a minute after it had been posted, I thought mmm interesting let's come back here in 5mins - 5mins later 6 comments all gunning for the same pair of brakes, brakes already sold.

Ok, deleting an ad removes all record of it and related correspondence. Closing an ad merely removes it from the public domain as "active" but declutters the system (from my understanding). Perhaps Matt could explain what the procedure for classified ads should be.

Older ads get "closed" by the system anyway. Unsold items can simply be relisted if closed. Linking sold and purchased items to reputational feedback, say with the title of the ad in the text field, would be a relatively easy way of preserving a record of what's traded.

Do you make this up as you go along?

Have you ever placed an ad?

You can either "upgrade" "edit" or "close" your ad

I prefer my way, of marking it as sold in the heading....people then know that the item is no longer available. Also leaving it there gives other people a good indication of what they can expect if they also want to sell a similar item.

My gripe would be vague ads like the one below, if you want to sell something, try giving as much info as possible and take a couple of pictures! The rick to selling is to entice the buyer before they even have to make contact with you!

So lets just make it Lear, he was talking about me here, we all adults so don't pussy foot around here...

The specific item was a TT bike, I sold frame to guy who 1 month later built it and wanted to sell it, he asked me to help..so I did...I DID NOT buy it, was trying to help him to sell...

He placed advert cheaper than what we agreed on gum tree which roadie picked up and basically stated that I'm ripping people off...

I tried to explain to him but he was Adament that I spend 24hrs on here and rip people off ??

That is not the case at all....if a buyer trying to sell changes his price without letting me know then I'm the does ??? But unfair

There are a lot of s here wheeling and dealing....I personally don't see the issue, I have often bought one thing and got mail from fellow Hibbing explaining how he badly needed item and have often then sold at same price to that guy....so not out to fu** anybody over

I've been on here almost since day 1 and hav always had happy customers so take big offence to roadies statement and then starting forum crying about it without calling me out on it...we are not 5 years old

If you wanted h bike. The cheaper price thn just ask, was only trying to help the guy selling it...but you didn't even ask, you just attacked me about the price...

Anyway always 3 sides to the coin...just thought I needed to clear this whole thing up

Keep pedaling guys and lets deal with things like adults

Many sides to this coin it appears

Lots of spelling mistakes, hope pornstars account hasn't been hacked by the nige-e's

Reselling something after you've bought and paid for it in the classifieds for the same price you paid just because some other guy really wants it sounds like bollocks! You obviously do charity work and have lots of spare time on your hands?

Anyway why get so worked up if there's nothing really the matter, just clarify what the real story is calmly mmmm

So let me get this straight........ I am not allowed to sell my goods for more than what I bought it to make money?

WTF?!?!?

Of course you can.

It's business.

I think the OP wants more of a 'non-exploitative' environment for the HubSA flea market.
