Along with some deep cuts and if you lucky some disc brake burns.

If they fall on an open stretch of road the rotor wouldn't be hot. It would only be an issue on a descent or when passing through towns where there are lots of corners. The rest of the time there will be enough wind to cool them down as that is how they are designed, dissipating heat efficiently in order to maximise brake performance.

 

So in my eyes it isn't an issue. I'd rather be burnt by a sterile object than skid across tar or be stabbed by sharp greasy chain rings.
