I dont care what they think about me in my lycra, it's alright, they will get it one day!

Nothing wrong with Lycra - as long as its covered by baggies  :whistling:

I used to dislike my baggies and rode lycra most of the time. Since I've started riding AM and wearing knee pads and 5.10s Lycra has become a no-no and now I find the sight of MTBérs in lycra mildly offensive.

And there is a benefit bar the obvious style issues and pockets- decent baggies will protect your legs a lot better than Lycra in a fall...

Imagine kneepads and lycra short pant together. :( eeeeuw.

As for 5.10s and lycra. I have seen this and it can't be unseen. It was horrible.

For the most part I just ride in any baggies I have in my cupboard. most were purchaced from Mr Price or some surf shop. (note, they are NOT board shorts).

Sometimes I wear a bib underneath, most times I don't.

When I do wear MTB specific shorts they're these

and as a recent purchase... these (one pair orange, one pair black)

Troy Lee Sprint and Moto Shorts (respectively). Thicker than most of the locally available baggies, so will hold up better during a fall. Not readily available locally though... and they do cost a pretty penny... but still cheaper han those 2000 ZA Rond bibs some lycrans are sporting.

Thanks Greybeard, we do always try offer great value for money

We're also busy developing a new, higher end baggie short. As always, 100% locally made and hopefully great value to you guys. Watch this space!

Good to hear.

Please just make it look cool, 99% of local brand baggies are hideous.

Oh and pleeeeeaaaase don't make it with a fixed liner.

FYI, Dakine/Endura/Sombrio/Troy Lee Design are considered cool.

Would love to see that. Hope you've been doing heaps of research and looking at what makes the preferred shorts here tick.

We're excited too. We've been doing plenty research and are noting what gets posted here... :whistling:

Key for us is delivering a good product at the right price!

More than willing to accept a few free pairs and I will test them out and report back on the product FOR FREE!

So... in durbs ill be moving over to the mtb scene...

It seems like I should be also making the move to baggies now... is the cheapest to wear lycra below the baggies or what?

.and where does one but threse??? I've never ever seen it in a cycle shop

one times surfing baggies, go to Dischem and get some baby diapers, i would recommended the bulk pack. Line the middle of the baggies up and you done. Plus side, if you **** yourself no issues ;-) Leigh's cycle center in the Pavillion has some kiff ones. I don't use them so cant really comment.

I just want to try the baggies because i'm considering starting to "carry" as a mate of mine had a bad exp with some hijackers the other day on our route we ride often... cant do this with Lycra...

oh and i'm too fat for Lycra.... just because i can... doesn't mean i should!!! :whistling:

My 2c is that I have had a bad experience with the First Ascent baggies. They chowed me - details not needed. At first I thought it was because I wore them on Day 2 of the ride. But then I wore them fresh, as it were, and they still nibbled me. Took them off for inspection, well outer baggies only (amused the ladies who sadly weren't impressed) but found nothing. Must be some hidden seam. Now I'm going to try the inners and outer baggies independently.

My riding partner swore by his Fox baggies but they gnawed at him on the Himeville - Notts so it was a bib for Sani. The benefit of baggies as I see it, besides the pockets, is that they offer good protection for lycra from thornbushes and barbed wire that would otherwise wreck expensive shorts.

I got a pair of Merrel baggies from Due South yesterday, very comfy, the shammy is brilliant, 3 pockets. But they're a bit noisy, there is "swish" sound as you pedal.

That is what makes Endura awesome. Their shorts have no seams in the "sensitive" region.
