Does any one know why the middle singletrack through the pines has been packed full of stumps and rocks? I had a massive fall yesterday because of that (and the lack of a dropper post).

Sorry my strava link never came up.

But there's a segment called Techie Rock Descent and then there's one called Dick's Drop 2.

Any of these?

The usual answer: not open for riding .

It has become a nasty habit to put obstacles on the track, often in sharp corners. It's the walkers doing it.

Do they want someone to break a bone?

Is that the outcome they are hoping for?

What if an elderly person, walking in the evening in low light condition or rain, not looking down, falls and breaks his or her hip? Is that deemed to be Mission Accomplished?

We rode it 2 weeks ago. And i noticed these obstacles. Amongst ourselves that's exactly what we said. That probably the runners and walkers must of did that.

But that was amongst ourselves

I think it's Dick's Drop. The last drop down before the smooth single track towards bottom of Deer Park parking area (which has also been packed with some fat branches, but you can ride over them).

I'm seriously peeved. It could have ended much worse, but I fell rather impressively. Still have a nice bruise from where my saddle said hello to my temple.

If I find someone doing that I will simply phone Sanpark and the cops because it is malicious intent to cause harm to another.

Complete bull. It's not like we can't all share those areas, yet the doggy people and hikers have the entire top op fit mountain to themselves.

I don't hear them complaining about all the safety improvements that have been brought about entirely by mountain biking on the mountain.

Ouch bru! Ek stem saam.

Rob can we move these obstacles? Is this track legal for us to ride? I go pass(not through) this everyday on my commute. I will gladly move them?

Just be absolutely sure that where you are riding is legal before you phone SANParks or you might get a somewhat unexpected outcome. ;)

You're right, he will have to answer if riding isnt allowed on that trail; but it doesnt diminish the offence of people trying to harm riders on that trail.

Like poisoning a bottle of booze and leaving it on the backseat of your car for robbers to find.

Absolutely agree on the dastardliness of sabotaging a trail and possibly causing serious injury (2 Cape Town riders are currently in hospital in with broken necks). The person that sabotaged is liable, whether the trail is legal or not.

Frankly I wouldn't understand why that would have to be an illegal piece of trail. It's in Deer Park, it's short, clear line of sight to avoid collisions with oncoming trail users...

But regardless of the legality of the trail, I think it speaks of a sickness of the mind to put dangerous obstacles on a trail just because you have some warped sense of ownership of the land.

Feel free to move any obstacle out of the way. It's definitely not San Parks doing it. I am meeting San Parks in half an hour about the trails of Rhodes Memorial side and will bring this up.

Point is, assuming no cyclist ever rides where the obstacles are , they will catch out a trail runner of someone not paying attention. So it's the other users tripping up themselves. How dumb can you get.

So Saturday me, my brother and a mate went to the start of the trail. Myself and brother leaving our steeds with our mate while we cleared the trail. And i must say this was planned and the people who done it has taken alot of time and effort to do so. Some of the logs and rocks we could not simply just roll away they needed to lifted and moved....

We must of cleared close to a 100 rocks and logs stick and branches. Made me wonder many a times if the trail was actually a rideable trail.

Anyway since Saturday the trail is open and clear. Enjoy!!!
