Wanted to brag with my hero, I might not be the best mountain biker but he inspires me every time we ride together.

Its a great privilege to have a training partner like mine

My 5 year old little man, doing the green route at Rietvlei Farms.

Just look at that smile, that is true enjoyment.

Such a nice post. I still ride with my dad every Sunday afternoon, I am 31 and he is in his 60's.

Our baby boy turned 21 today.

Years ago we were cycling close to a dam, many little streams leading into the dam, with wooden bridges over the streams. My son was in front and he took the wrong line over one of the bridges and went off the bridge into the stream. It is a bit of a shock to see your five year old just disappear in front of your eyes. I remember thinking what the f am I going to tell his mom. I got to the bridge and there he was, back on his feet allready , but covered in mud. His only complaint : Now I have to wash my hair again, and you know I don't like doing it.

He know washes his hair regularly, but alas no longer cycles.

This makes my heart happy. Good on you mate. I lost my old man when I was 15. He was a Springbok (in those days, now Protea) hockey player. Dropped dead one afternoon from a heart attack. Makes me think of the lost good times. But that is one of lifes little curve balls that you have to handle. That is why I ensure that every moment with my son is golden. Enjoy your rides with your old timer,May they be magic moments.

I am enormously blessed to still ride with my father (75 and going strong) and my sons (12 and 14). Over the years I've ridden an Argus, a Knysna and a Burger with my dad. Two years ago all 3 generations of us did an Argus together from start to finish as a team (Team DJR) and I'll cherish it forever and I'm sure the rest of the mob will too. Like I said, truly blessed.
