I can see the profile but would like to know total elevation as a figure

There is a race report from 2012 on Kevin Evans' blog - he says 1600m elevation.

Also check the thread of the 2012 event here on the hub. There are some statements about the total elevation from different riders.

Last year we had a comment from one of the riders "This could easily become the West coast Karoo to Coast" :D

I would say a bit easier on the legs ,but harder on the bum.

I hope they extend the cut-off this year, now that the event is on the Saturday (was on a Sunday last year).

Realistically they should allow for 8 - 8.5 hours to allow for your below-average weekend warriors like me. The need will certainly be there with a larger amount of entrants.

I bailed at about 95km last year after 6 hours, knowing I wouldn't do 20km in an hour (and because I was knackered).

Forgot to add - a fantastic setting and event. Highly recommended. May yet return this year to get my revenge.

You made a good decision. The last 20km's was into a horrible head wind. A year later I still remember the pain, and then we missed the cut-off by +- 15 minutes or so :-(

It really is a beautiful ride and this year I will be back and I WILL make the cut-off. I took longer to do this race then K2C, but I think that was mostly due to the wind.

Climbing isn't bad, lots of little rolling hills in the 2nd half.

I think you being on your HT might have also taken its toll. You and your dad did well. Maybe see you there!!
