Much better than foam. Last longer and are so much more comfortable.

Can get local a bit to thick and heavy in my option but good or get imports no need to wast money on Big expensive brands same metrials used.

Gel cycling shorts are comfortable till the gel moves away from where its needed.

The following are tried and tested:

ASSOS

Castelli

Cannondale

Vemark

First Ascent and Cape Storm are good value but they will fall apart in a couple of season.

As an aexample, I have a few pairs of ASSOS FI.13 that are 6,8,9 and 10 years old respectively. Been through 3 of those crazy multi day mtb stage race thingies

Santini do those too ... infact, a combination of gel and air.

But the plain gels are far more popular.
