Hopefully he can do better next year. I'd love to see J-Rod take it.

Hell that would be great....he certainly deserve a Grand Tour win!But we have not seen anybody podium in back to back tour for many years.

I hope he's late run of form in the tour might mean he will have something left for the Vuelta. He was nowhere close to he's best in the first 2 weeks so maybe he can pull it off?

Wouldn't it be great to see all the top riders at all the grand tours.?

Pity there always seems to be somebody (or more) missing.

If I remember it was on Supersport last year, maybe it will be televised again.?

I am struggling to build up some enthusiasm at the moment, I think I am all "toured out" at the moment, maybe later.!

Well adding to your burnout is the Tour of Poland which starts tomorrow in Italy (!?!) and features Nibs, Twiggy, Uran and Henao.

Not too sure who else is on the start list but is 7 days and could be a nice indication where people are at.

From velonews

Wiggins finished a distant nine minutes and 13 seconds adrift of stage winner Diego Ulissi in what was his first competitive outing since mid-May, when he was forced out of the Giro d’Italia with a chest infection. He subsequently decided against a defense of his 2012 Tour de France title.

After being dropped on one of the climbs and laboring to a 58th-place finish, Wiggins announced he would not be taking part in next month’s Vuelta a España as he works his way back to fitness.

“I won’t do the Vuelta, that’s for sure,” said the Briton, who last year won the Tour and the Olympic individual time trial. “The world championships is what I’m aiming for. It’s just small steps at the moment. I’m just focused on the present, not thinking about next year.”

Think Berto indicated he is not riding. You have to give Nibs the nod as well as vote to Scarponi. Would like if J Rod could give it a crack.

My money is on Wanko not winning

Yeah, I took a look at the course, very mountainous, which should give a pure climber like Scarponi a good shot, plus of course he had very good form at the Giro, so I am now quite hopeful he rides.

Nibali must go into it as favorite but there are some others I guess, providing they ride, Valverde, Rodriguez, Daniel Moreno, Igor Anton are all good possibilities, I think its going to be a somewhat depleted peleton "Big name wise" though - which is also okay, sometimes they just spoil it with tactics anyway, the opportunistic hopeful's sometimes make for great racing.
