Bit obsessive with the self-promotion there, David.

We have all seen that you have "basically" called LA a psychopath and that Phil is your current whipping boy. Very original. We also know you have a blog because you have told us a number of times now. You asked our opinion on your writing- mine is that it is purple and pretentious, merely rehashing what others have said better. Your playlist made me puke in my mouth a little. Its sad to see good music so abused.

You clearly have talent, but dial back the ego and "streamofconsciousness".

Phil mentioned Cape Town + the argus + Chappies. Man I love the guy :D

He adds "local colour" to those who take his feeds. So because SuperSport carries the program he mentions Darryl Impey whenever he is on screen (even if he was not a yellow jersey wearer - big respect from me to DI) and Cape Town etc..

Ja he cocked up on that one.

I did not see/listen to too much of this years tour, but what I did see, was it my imagination or did they not mention the one whose name should not be mentioned that much?

Not sure, I watched online and got the Eurosport guys most days. Seems likely though.. must have taken Phil's doc ages to extract both feet after the the 'aye poor lance' diatribe.

I think Phil is great and cant imagine the TDF without him. He also does a lot for SA, we are always mentioned.

Great guy and commentator

I noticed that too. It's as if he never existed.

Nice as they are to hear, Phil has kind words for us because a. he gets paid to talk and b. he knows we are listening. He likes his all-expenses paid holidays in SA just as much as he did the joyrides in Lance's jet.

Nice article. Good perspective on Phil's folly.

I still like Phil, he just bet on the wrong horse. I haven't heard him publicly making a U-Turn on his "if that oke is drugged, I'll eat my hat" stance.

I wonder if they reached a prior agreement amongst themselves not to mention his name.

I'd say the organizers gave them a list of words NOT to use and it read something like this.

1. Lance Armstrong

2. EPO

3. Drugs

4. Performance Enhancers

5. f*ck

6. c*nt

etc etc.

I disagree, Phil has a genuine love for South Africa and has a second home in Gordon's Bay. He has done numerous speaking engagements in the area for no personal gain but to support charities. Yes he made a mistake on the Lance issue, but he freely admits he was wrong. So were many others...

I had an opportunity to listen to Phil in person after the LA confession. He talked quite openly about it and was grieved by him doping.

I however find it interesting some of the comments about him supporting the wrong guy. Who should he have supported, Jan Ulrich? There wasn't any "clean" options at the time.
