They pretty much do the same thing, except that Strava has the segments that compares your time to others who have ridden the same segments. I started out using Endomondo but now use strava. Endomondo had cool counters though, like measuring your calories burned by the number of burgers you have burned, trips to the moon and your fastest 50 km and your best hour, etc.

My vote goes to Strava, but Endomondo is pretty usefull as well.

If put to a choice of only one I'd say Strava.

I started out with Strava then found Endomondo each having its appeal. Strava with the segment challenge factor of measuring yourself with others on local sections vs Endomondo's wide variety of challenges you can participate in for motivation.

Don't know if there is a difference in battery consumption, ran both at the same time till my phone died and I got a Garmin instead. Now I upload to Strava, Endomondo and Garmin Connect B)

Either way, you can use the one and export your workouts to the other

+1

I found that if I used the Strava app and had a low signal when I finish the ride and it tries to upload it would fail and my ride would be gone, very irritating.. So I use Endomondo which IMHO uses much less battery power than strava and just upload my GPX files to Strava.

Also, people flag your rides on Strava apparently. So careful if that's your thing

Right? Come on guys... I ride around town looking to better peoples times and then I just get flagged...

I mean...

can i Chuck another one in the mix mapmyride

I found endomondo is cool but mapmyride and strava offers stuff on the free versions that endomondo doesnt't.

Plus if you are on DISCOVERY medical aid and u use mapmyride, you get vitality points for you workouts. I like there map planning tool. but the segments is not as competitive as strava. So I use both :).

Plus mapmyride/living vitality has challenges, if you do well you actually win prizes etc.

You can also use your Polar and upload via Polar weblink to earn the same point ;)

I use Endomondo PRO but because none of these really work the way I want to I just manually upload my ride afterwards using my Polar for the stats and building the route online.

Go to https://www.livingvitality.discovery.co.za/lv/dashboard and upload your rides directly from garmin, polar, nike+ & other systems.

I like the challenges on Endomondo, but also enjoy the segments on Strava (where you can challenge yourself as well as others).

I use a Garmin to record my rides and then just upload on both Endomondo and Strava, so can't give an opinion in comparison with the phone apps etc.

All in all, my vote will go with Strava.
