Fox Fork service

I need to service my Fox F-Series 32 RL 120mm fork and Float RP-2 shock. This would be the second time they get serviced, but R2k is a bit steep for a service.

Do you think a DIY would be too risky / is it really that difficult? (I have never done this before)

I was wondering the same thing the other day so http://www.stokesusp...com/contact-us/ is now bookmarked for future reference if I need to have mine serviced.

:offtopic: Bit of a hijack but what about getting a service kit and DIY'ing it? What does a service actually entail, will youtube this in a bit? And what is the going rate for a service if I might ask if anyone knows?

[HIJACK OFF]

DIY is possible for the fork and the rear shock air sleeve service, bit the damper rebuild on the shock you'll have to send away. Manuals are available on Fox's website.

Our prices for service are Fox Forx - R800, Shox air sleeve R375, full rebuild R900. RS forks come in a bit cheaper because the parts cost less.

Is that for just 1 shock?

[EDIT]

I just youtubed the service procedure for my rear shock and it seems rather straight forward and the service kit for it costs like R 180.00 it would seem. http://www.buycycle....product_id=1657

Okay so this is the 30hour service then and it also seems a DIY straight forward one

Looking at my Fox Shock book I got with the bike these seem like the 30 hour maintenance jobs. Both front and rear have a 100 hour/annually service that is suspension fluid service for the rear stated as to be done by a FOX agent or Authorized center and the front depending on it being a FIT or Talas service of the damper iro FIT and service air spring iro Talas. I take it this is actually the service that you would take to these guys mentioned above and the rest you do yourself?

As above - that's the air sleeve rebuild, and it's simple if you've got a bench vice and a bit of mechanical sense. The annual rebuild - you'll need a few grand's worth of tools, a bit of practice and a few swear words you didn't know before.

R 1 700 for the pair, or do the fork yourself and send us the shock for R 900 + a set of fork seals at R 400. If the shock's just an intermediate service, DIY it. Seals are R185.

Would anyone recommend Cyclefactory for a Fox Fork Service? I need to take my bike there for another problem, and was hoping that they could everything at the same time.

Thanks, good to know that the details don't go unnoticed...

Would be cool if they did little stickers that they put on the lower legs of the forks saying something like "I have been STOKED"

They're in the post, just looking for a printer that can make the stickers small enough to be unobtrusive but still sharp enough for a logo and QR code. Tougher than you'd expect.
