Frame creak on Anthem X1 29 er

Can anyone help. I have a 2012 Anthem X1 29er with a SHRAM X9 2x 10 crank set. The bike has developed a very irritating and constant creak / tick sound on every revolution of the right crank arm just as it gets between 15 and 20 past (on an analogy clock for visualization purposes). I have stripped the bike down, tightened bolds on the chain ring’s, cleaned all pivot bearing points and made sure they are lubed. In conjunction with my LBS we have changed pedals, shocks, crank sets and fitted a new chain. The bike even went back to Dragon Sports, but low and behold a week later the noise was back. It seems to disappear for a while when I ride in the wet, but then comes back after a couple of hours of dry riding and is particularly worse on the small chain ring.

Hope someone can advise as it is driving me and whoever rides next to me mad

Wow, recently I was chtting to our LBS guy and they had a bike with a similar creaking problem, after replacing virtually all the drive components, bearings, etc it turned out to be no more than a pedal.

Good luck, I have no idea but there will be cleverer people on here who might know.

Long shot but have you ever checked your seatpost when hearing the noise? In my experience it's the first thing that starts creaking after a wet/muddy ride...

I had an issue on a hardtail. Replaced entire drivetrain, turned out to be i needed to grease around the point the QR meets the frame.

Give it a try might work

Thanks, but yes. Noise is very definately from the crank area as it is still there when standing

funny thing my brother had the same problem with his giant TCR. we first replaced the seat post, cause we noticed a small crack on the carbon post. a ride later the creak was back. so off to dragons the bike went. they couldn't even get the cause of the creak! so next step Lourens from Bellville cut the post down to size and whala the creak was gone! thanks heaven because even I was getting gatvol of riding with him lol!

Try standing and pedalling, no joke, just try it and see if it still does it.

I had a similar thing on my old trance, it clicked while seated.... ended up stripping the whole bike and it still did it, clean the seatpost clamp a few weeks later. Click was gone

Done that and the noise is still there. Definately not seat post or saddle.

Had the exact same thing on my Zaskar- round one was a creaky peddle, round two I spotted a small nick on two chainring teeth, hence it made that bloody clicking noise at exactly the same peddle position every time, seems going through water lubed it up enough to muffle the click. But you have replaced your entire crank already?
